John Barley, Versant Strategies’ founding partner, has been the Chief Executive Officer since 2004.

He was a former member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives where he served as the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. Barley founded Star Rock Farms in 1963 which has grown to become Pennsylvania's largest multi-enterprise farming operation. In addition, he has acted as a consultant for hundreds of businesses across the Commonwealth. 

John frequently delivers political commentary on the Pennsylvania Cable Network (PCN) including election night and gubernatorial  budget address coverage.  John’s strong suit is access to key decision makers across all levels of government.
